Product Recommendations for Naturals Who are Transitioning

After doing a lot of research and from experience, I’ve compiled a list of products for you that many other naturals have tried and agree works great for transitioning hair. Now please keep in mind that everyone’s hair is different and likes different things, so it is possible that these products may not necessarily work for your hair, but trying out different products is the only way to find out what your hair does and does not like. I hope this helps you and best wishes on your journey to embracing your natural hair.

Products for transitioning hair

Because you are not fully natural yet, sometimes it can be difficult to use all natural products because your relaxed hair wont react to them so until you big chop, you may have to use products that have some chemicals. Some of these products are “natural” but not 100% organic.

I recommend you try these products:

Shampoo:
1) Energizing Passionfruit Guava Shampoo made by Organix – Can be purchased from Wal-mart and Target-sulfate & paraben free

Conditioners:
1) Energizing Passonfruit Guava Conditioner made by Organix – Can be purchased from Wal-mart and Target

2) Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner by Organic Root Stimulator – Can be purchased from Sally’s Beauty Supply or any beauty supply store

Leave-in:
3) Cantu shea butter leave in conditioner- can find at Wal-mart, and beauty supply stores

Styler Gels:
Fantasia IC or eco styler- can find at Sally’s or other beauty supply store

Moisturizing Natural Oils:
EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) and Jojoba oil (these oils can be used alone) – Can find at natural food stores

Transitioning Hairstyles:
Two-strand twists with Bantu Knots, two strand twists/outs, braid-outs, roller sets, perm rods…etc. (any style that will help to blend your natural hair and your relaxed hair will do)

Best of luck from one natural sister to another.
