LOVE AND HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH CANTU SHEA BUTTER LEAVE-IN

*This post was written on March 8, 2014*

For the longest I’ve had a love and hate relationship with the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream. When I was relaxed, it was one of my staple products. It left my hair soft, and stronger after each use. When I made the decision to go natural, everyone was raving about how great it worked on their natural hair, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when I realized I could keep it in my arsenal. The Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in worked great until I tried to mix it with my Eco Styler gels. At the time my hair was really short and I rocked the wash n go pretty much everyday, so it was bye bye Cantu Leave in!

Three years later, the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream has been re-introduced to my hair regimen. How did this happen you say? Well, remember when I came to the realization that my hair was over-moisturized (click Finding the Balance: Protein and Moisture to read about the horror lol), this light-protein leave-in conditioner helped to make managing and styling my curls easier. The fight against over-moisturized hair is not quite over yet for me. I will be updating you guys soon on this reoccurring topic, but for now, back to my love hate relationship with the Cantu Leave-in.

Lately I have been achieving some of my best twist-outs using this leave-in conditioner with a little bit of coconut oil. I find that it gives me not only well defined twist-outs, but also soft, shiny, bouncy curls! For a bit of a stronger hold, it also mixes well with the Olive Oil Smooth-N-Hold Pudding. I haven’t experienced any flaking whatsoever with these combinations. The Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream is one of the few products I can say does exactly what it says it will do.

Right now I am definitely LOVING it. Will that change in the future? Possibly, but I am okay with that. If you’ve also had a love and hate relationship with the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream, I suggested giving it a try with a little bit of coconut oil or the Olive Oil Smooth-N-Hold Pudding. You just might fall in love all over again!

Until next time,
